Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a staunch Trump ally, was shot and killed at an event on a Utah campus. He was known for fiery Christian nationalist speeches and organizing young conservatives.

International news: Charlie Kirk, an activist and close ally of President Donald Trump, was shot and killed at an event at a Utah college on Wednesday. President Donald Trump has confirmed that conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of youth organization Turning Point USA, died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He was 31.

This attack has happened amid rising political violence in the United States, which includes both left-wing and right-wing movements. US President Donald Trump said that no one could understand the hearts of the youth in America better than Charlie. Everyone, especially me, loved and respected him and now he is no longer among us.

Trump Calls Kirk True Patriot

Expressing condolences to Kirk's family, Trump said that Melania and my condolences are with his beautiful wife Erica and family. Charlie, we love you. In a post on Truth Social, he wrote, "In honor of a true great American patriot, Charlie Kirk, I am ordering all American flags across the United States to be flown at half-mast until 6 pm Sunday." 

Investigation Continues, No Suspects Caught

FBI Director Kash Patel said a man detained in connection with the death of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk has been released after being questioned by law enforcement. "The man detained has been released after being questioned by law enforcement officials. Our investigation is ongoing and we will continue to release information in the interest of transparency," he said in a post on X.

From debate to violence 

In a video posted on social media, Kirk is seen sitting under a white tent with slogans such as "The American Comeback" and "Prove Me Wrong" written on it and speaking into a handheld microphone. Kirk was speaking at a debate organized by his non-profit political organization when he was attacked. The shooting comes at a time when political violence has increased across all ideological lines in the United States.
